Chuck received his bachelor's degree from Stanford University in 1991 and his Ph.D. from UCLA in 1996 in Computer Science. Upon graduating, Chuck joined the IBM Austin Research Laboratory where he remains still and currently serves as manager of the Design Productivity Group. Chuck has published over 100 conference and journal publications and has received three Best Paper Awards from the Design Automation Conference. He has served as chair for the International Symposium on Physical Design and the Tau Workshop on Timing Issues. Chuck serves as an industrial liason to several university faculty members and working with graduate students. For his mentoring work, Chuck has twice been awarded the Semiconductor Research Corporation's Mahboob Khan Mentor Award. He is an IEEE Fellow.
