I've been at the Watson Research Center since 1981; over the years I have worked on mainframe performance management, computer conferencing, computer virus countermeasures, web middleware, immersive virtual worlds, and autonomic computing. I'm currently (early 2010) working on issues in the management and simulation of massively multicore systems.

My research interests include simulation and management of massively-multicore systems, immersive virtual worlds, autonomic computing and systems management, emergent issues in computer security, computer-mediated collaboration, and serendipitous search in rich logical spaces.
