Dan He joined IBM T.J. Watson Research, Computational Genomics group in Spring 2012. He obtained a B.S. of Computer Science from University of Science and Technology of China in 2004 and a Master of Computer Science from University of Vermont in 2006. He worked as a software engineer from 2006 to 2008. He obtained a Ph.D of Computer Science from University of California, Los Angeles in 2012, with major in Computational Biology and minors in Artificial Intelligence and Data Mining. He has been awarded the Most Outstanding Ph.D Graduate Award 2012, the Northrup-Grumman Outstanding Graduate Student Research Award 2011, the Chancellor Award for Most Outstanding Applicants 2008, all from Computer Science Department, UCLA and the Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Chinese Students Overseas, 2010. He is interested in developing efficient algorithms and machine learning techniques to solve human genetics problems. He is also interested in problems on combinatorial optimization, data mining and information retrieval.
