Jalal Mahmud is a Research Staff Member in the USER group at IBM Almaden Research Center since Oct, 2008. His research interests include intelligent user experience, web task modeling, web mining, web accessibility and machine learning.
Dr. Mahmud earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the Department of Computer Science, State University of New York at Stony Brook under supervision of Prof. I.V. Ramakrishnan in 2008. He received MS degree in Computer Science from the same department in 2006 and B.SC in Computer Science and Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET).
He has published papers in top rated conferences such as WWW, IUI, SDM, CHI, MobiSys. His publications are indexed by DBLP . Dr. Mahmud received best paper nominations in WWW 2006 and WWW 2007 for his work in Web accessibility. Recently he has also received best paper nominations in IUI 2012 for his work in automating functional manual tests and in IUI 2013 for his work in recommending targeted strangers for crowd-sourced information collection.
