Dr. Kumar Virwani is a research scientist working in nanometer scale measurements, characterization and fabrication of electronic devices. Prior to joining IBM Almaden in 2008, Dr. Virwani worked at Veeco Instruments (now Bruker-Nano) on multiple aspects of scanning probe microscopy. Dr. Virwani obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville in 2007.
At IBM Almaden Research Center in San Jose, Dr. Virwani has developed novel conducting scanning probe microscopy methods for electrical characterization of mixed ionic electronic conductor materials and devices. He is involved with projects on storage class memory, Lithium-air batteries, low-k dielectrics, and photovoltaics.
