Dr. Luc Thomas is a Research Staff Member in the Magnetoelectronics group at the IBM Almaden Research Center, San Jose, CA. His research interests cover both the basic physics and technological applications of spintronics materials and nanostructures. He is working on the "Racetrack Memory", a new storage-class memory device based on the motion of magnetic domain walls in nanowires which could replace both hard disk drives and many forms of conventional solid state memory. Thomas has published over 65 papers and 4 issued patents.
