I have been with IBM since September 2011, working as a post-doc in the Program Analysis and Transformation Group. I read for my doctoral degree at the Department of Computer Science of Oxford University under the supervision of Oege de Moor, graduating with a dissertation on Specification, Implementation and Verification of Refactorings in September 2010.

My current research interests include refactoring, static analysis of dynamic programming languages, and automated program testing and repair.

In January 2013, I will be joining NTU Singapore as a faculty member.

A Note about Spelling

My last name is originally spelled "Schäfer", but even in the year 2012 this trips up some non-internationalised software, which is why I often use the variant "ae" spelling.
