Dr. Stephen J. Buckley has over twenty-five years of experience in analytics research, program and project leadership, people management, and relationship management. He has deep technical knowledge in simulation, supply chain management, business process management, and software development. He currently manages the applied research portfolio for IBM Global Business Services in the Business Analytics and Optimization (BAO) area.

Dr. Buckley received the Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from MIT in 1987. He received the M.S. degree in Computer Science from Penn State University in 1978 (with a minor in Industrial Engineering), and the B.S. degree in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science from Florida State University in 1977.

He has been a Research Staff Member at the IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Center in Yorktown Heights, NY since 1987, and a manager at that facility since 1995. In addition to technical and management roles, Dr. Buckley spent over two years working in IBM's Mergers and Acquisitions department as a liaison to the IBM Research Division. In 1999 he was a member of a team that won the INFORMS Edelman award. He will be the General Chair of the Winter Simulation Conference in 2014 and is on the editorial board of two technical journals.
