Sreeram Ramakrishnan is a Manager and a research staff member at IBM Watson Research Center, Hawthorne, NY. He has a PhD (Industrial Engineering) from Penn State University, M.S. (Industrial Engineering) from Binghamton University and a B.Tech (Mechanical) from College of Engineering, Trivandrum, India. At IBM, his research focuses on adapting manufacturing based techniques to services, particularly in healthcare. His research interests include process modeling, process improvement techniques, modularity in services design and information flow modeling in services. In his current role in the IBM Research Colloboratory – Taiwan, he is focusing on characterizing information interventions in healthcare delivery and management processes, targeting chronic disease management. Prior to joining IBM, he was an assistant professor in Engineering Management department of University of Missouri- Rolla (2003-2006) where his research focused on simulation-based control, distributed simulations and formalisms for service processes.
He has authored over 100 journals and fully refereed conference proceedings and has served on the editorial boards of IEEE Transactions for Automation in Services Engineering and ASEM’s Engineering Management Journal. He has also been elected to the Board of Directors of American Society of Engineering Management.
