Dr. Marc Ganzhorn joined IBM Research in 2016 at the Zurich Research Laboratory as a member of the Quantum Technology group within the Science & Technology department. His current research focus is on quantum information processing with superconducting circuits.

Prior to joining IBM, Marc was a member of the Quantum Sensing group at the University of Basel from 2013 to 2016 where he developed a new cryogenic quantum magnetometer based on nitrogen vacancy (NV) centers in diamond.

Marc was awarded a PhD (with distinction) in Physics from the Universite Joseph Fourier, Grenoble (France) in 2013 for his dissertation entitled "Magnetism and mechanics on a molecular level". During his work at Institut Neel, Grenoble (France) he developed a new detection and control scheme for nuclear spin qubits in single molecule magnets using a nanomechanical resonator. For his PhD thesis he received the PhD prize from the Universite Grenoble-Alpes in 2014.

He received his undergraduate degree (Dipl.-Phys.) in Physics from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Germany in 2009.
