Life Sciences Collaboratory - overview
In February 2011, IBM Research and The University of Melbourne launched the Victorian Life Science Computation Initiative (VLSCI) and the associated IBM Research Collboratory in order to advance research in computational biology and its application in medicine.
The collaboratory actively cooperates with the University of Melbourne for solving challenging problems in the area of life sciences. It operates at the intersection of life sciences and high performance computing, enabling collaborations between life sciences and medial researchers in the Melboure area with IBM's computational biology experts. The collaboratory is located at the Victorian Life Science Computation Initiative, an institution funded by the Victorian government aiming at sustaining and growing Victoria’s standing as a world leader in life science research.
