1st Workshop on People+AI Society @CHI 2018 - Organizers


 Juliana Jansen Ferreira is a HCI Research Staff Member at the Natural Resources Software Technology group of IBM Research Brazil. She holds a D.Sc. degree in HCI from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio). Skilled and thorough qualitative researcher, she is used to analyze large amount of data to point issues and insights for further investigations related to people and how technology can influence their lives. Her work has been published in world-leading venues such as ICEIS, VL/HCC, CHI, HCII, and she is also co-author in a Springer Book entitled "Software Developers as Users". 

Maíra Gatti de Bayser is a Research Staff Member in the Social Data Analytics group at IBM Research, Brazil. Her main research areas are Artificial Intelligence and Software Engineering and she is currently working with Multi-Party Dialogue Systems. She holds Ph.D. and M.Sc. in Software Engineering from Informatics Department of the PUC-Rio, Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She has been a research fellow at the Agent and Intelligent Systems of Kings College London, England, and before a visit student at the University of Waterloo, Canada.

 Ana Fucs is a UX designer at the Visual Analytics & Comprehension group at IBM Research Brazil. With a solid background on strategic design methodologies such as Design Thinking and extensive experience building technological assets, she creates solutions based on user-centered investigation and lean prototyping. She holds a M.Sc. in Design Research from Grenoble INP, France. Ana’s experience working with applied research allows her to set up bridges between academic and corporate thinking, as well as connecting technology innovation and User Experience Design.

 Viviane Torres da Silva is a Research Staff Member in the Natural Resource group at IBM Research, Brazil. She holds Ph.D. and M .Sc. in Software Engineering from Informatics Department of the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio). Her main research topics are Software Engineering, Knowledge Engineering and Multiagent Systems. She have been working with normative, reputation and governance multi-agent systems and have published several paper in conferences such as AAMAS, WI, ICTAI, ICAART and ICEIS. She recently publish a survey paper at JAAMAS.

 Vinícius Segura is a Research Staff Member at IBM Research in Rio de Janeiro, working in the Visual Analytics & Comprehension group. He holds a D.Sc. and M.Sc. degree in HCI and a B.Sc. in Computer Engineering, both from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio). Over the last years, he has worked in several computer graphics and information visualization projects. His work has been published in venues such as VL/HCC, EICS, and AVI.

 Rogerio de Paula is a senior research scientist at IBM Research Brazil, and manager of the Visual Analytics & Insights Research Group. He has more than 15 years of experience in computer sciences and cognitive sciences. He has investigated how AI technologies can best support expert everyday practices to devise new theories, technologies, and modes of interactions to shape and improve solutions. In so doing, he has been exploring news ways of capturing, modeling, and representing expert data, context, and knowledge in support of developing of new intelligent systems. He has been active contributor to several international conferences, such as, ACM CHI, ACM CSCW, ECSCW, and EPIC.

 Heloisa Candello is a Researcher and an interaction designer at the IBM Research Brazil. She has experience conducting qualitative research in the collection, design and evaluation of interactive systems. She has participated on projects which intend to improve the experience of people using interactive technologies in financial contexts. She holds a PhD. in Computer Science, Interactive Technologies from University of Brighton–UK. Her current role is leading and conducting design research activities to understand peoples’ contexts and motivations to use conversational technologies.
