The role includes creating the long-term research agenda, leading the global technology outlook, driving the operations and financial plan execution, and collaborating with innovation partners worldwide. Primary areas of IBM Research include cognitive computing, blockchain, quantum computing, cybersecurity and more.
Independent Director of IDEXX Laboratories (IDXX), the global market leader in diagnostics and information solutions for animal health and water quality. I am a member of the Finance and of the Nomination & Governance committees. I also serve as the Board's Digital Technology and Cyber expert.
The council reviews the School of Engineering's current initiatives and future directions. The council recently helped create the Sandbox Innovation Fund. I serve on its Funding Board. I also give occasional talks at MIT and enjoy mentoring diverse students on entrepreneurship and innovation.

Wholly-owned by Xerox Corporation. I served as PARC Inc.'s sole Director and stepped down following my retirement from Xerox on December 31, 2016.
For over a decade I was the President of the Xerox Innovation Group with research centers located in Canada, Europe, India and the USA. I was also responsible for the research & technology partnership with Fuji Xerox in Japan. I also chaired Xerox's decision committee for Intellectual Property commercializations. I also served as Xerox's Focus Executive for P&G, EMC and Raytheon.
Xerox’s ~$20B revenue consisted of business process services for transportation, healthcare, customer care, education, human resources and more. Xerox is also the market leader in managed print services and digital printing and publishing solutions.
I retired when Xerox split into two new public companies (Xerox and Conduent) on December 31, 2016.
