Simple approaches to pattern generation using a parallel graphics computer are described. Using these methods, a computer can automatically select parameters and generate a large collection of diverse, aesthetically appealing fractal patterns. Computational recipes are included to encourage reader involvement. The described approaches will work using inexpensive personal computers, although computations done in parallel provide for much quicker generation. © 1994.
