The concept of using 3-D dendritic end groups to form a dumbell-like macromolecular architecture which should prevent c-c-stacking between the planar chain is studied. Moreover, the efficacy of dendrimer end groups in suppressing excimer formation depending on the dendrimer size and the chain length of the oligo- and poly(dihexylfluorene)s is investigated. The details of the results of these studies are presented.
