Ermyas Abebe is a Research Scientist at the IBM Research - Australia lab in Melbourne. He completed his Bachelors in Computer Science in 2007 at RMIT University with highest Honors and commenced his PhD at the same institution in 2008, after being awarded a full RUIRS, RMIT University International Research Scholarship.
During his PhD he received Best Paper and Best Presentation awards in the annual RMIT University research conferences. He completed his PhD in 2012, with a letter of recognition for an outstanding PhD thesis assessment result.
Ermyas's PhD focused on Improving the Efficiency and Efficacy of Adaptive Computation Offloading in Pervasive Computing Environments, wherein he proposed models and algorithms for allowing computationally heavy applications to efficiently execute on dynamic clusters of resource constrained mobile computing devices. His research has been published in ERA-A ranked international Conferences and Journals. Ermyas is passionate about technology in general and has particular interest in mobile computing, and big data platforms. In his spare time, he develops mobile applications and hacks around the latest SDKs, tools and gadgets he can get his hands on.
