Ziyuan joined IBM research Australia in early 2012. Her work focused on Smarter Cities initiative, in particular on intelligent transportation systems, sensor data management, and natural disaster management. Ziyuan recently focuses on blockchain research and solutions across industries, including banking, insurance, and supply chain. Her research interests are at the intersection of distributed systems and analytics, including blockchain, stream computing, and spatio-temporal data analytics.
Before joining IBM, Ziyuan worked for CSIRO Marine and Atmospheric Research division, where she was involved in environmental modeling, remote sensing data management, and scientific workflows.
Ziyuan obtained a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Melbourne. Her dissertation was on proactive traffic control strategies for sensor-enabled cars.
