I have a B.Sc. degree in Computer Science, from UCS (Universidade de Caxias do Sul), and a MSc degree and a Phd degree in Computer Science from UFRGS (Universidade federal do rio Grande do Sul). I’m a member of the BDI group (group of Intelligent databases) at UFRGS, and a member of the working group funded by IEEE RAS entitled Standard for Ontologies for Robotics and Automation (IEEE RAS WG ORA). I am also the coordinator of standardization of the field of Robotics and Automation in the IEEE South Brazil Robotics & Automation Society Chapter. Currently, I’m investigating cognitively inspired approaches for knowledge representation and reasoning in Artificial Intelligence. My research interests include knowledge representation and reasoning, knowledge engineering, ontology engineering, conceptual modeling, expert systems, knowledge-based systems and cognitive vision systems. My spectrum of experiences includes the development of ontologies and knowledge-based systems for the Petroleum Geology domain, and the development of ontology-based standards for the robotics and automation domain.
