Leonardo Martins is a researcher at IBM Research, Brazil since 2014. He is also research manager of the Natural Resources Optimization group since 2017. He holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from University of Campinas, Brazil (UNICAMP) where he contributes as a visiting professor of Economics of Electricity Markets. Before joining IBM, he has worked for several years in research projects for the electric power industry with special focus in optimization methods for generation and transmission systems planning and operation.
His current research interests include convex relaxation, semidefinite programming, and polynomial optimization methods and their applications in water resources management in electric power systems operation, planning, and economics.
