Maysa Macedo is a Researcher in the Visual Analytics & Insights group at IBM Research Brazil. She spent three years as Postdoctoral Fellow in intravascular images at Heart Institute – University of Sao Paulo Medical School. She developed her doctorate at Institute of Mathematics and Statistics - University of Sao Paulo in vessel tracking involving Magnetic Resonance and Computed Tomography. She is Bachelor in Informatics at State University of Rio de Janeiro and she is interested in segmentation, feature extraction, shape analysis and machine learning. She published many works about atherosclerotic plaque characterization from intracoronary optical coherence tomography. In IBM she developed many applications involving images and machine learning for natural resources. Nowadays she develops new technologies to increase diversity in STEM area. Her research interests include machine learning, fairness, medical imaging analysis, computer vision, and healthcare informatics.
