Ingo Averdunk is a Distinguished Engineer in the IBM Garage for Cloud. As part of the worldwide team, he is responsible for Architecture and Solutions for Cloud Service Management and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE). Mr. Averdunk develops architectures and consults with IBM’s strategic customers, leads Cloud Adoption and Transformation initiatives, and performs RedTeam reviews globally. Ingo Averdunk is a member of the IBM Academy of Technology (AoT), member of the AoT Technical Committee, the IBM D/A/CH Technical Leadership Team, the EMEA Technical Profession Council, and the global profession co-lead for SRE in IBM. He co-authored “The Cloud Adoption Playbook” (Wiley, 2018), documenting proven strategies for transforming an organization with the Cloud. Ingo is the Meetup Organizer for the SRE Meetup Munich.

Mr. Averdunk joined IBM in 1997 as a Senior Consultant for Enterprise Systems Management. He held various positions throughout his career with IBM, including the Software Group Services lead architect for Service Management globally. He has more than twenty-five years of experience in enterprise systems and service management. Ingo recently established Site Reliability Engineering as a new technical profession in IBM. He has advised numerous clients globally on transforming to an SRE-oriented operations function.

Ingo Averdunk holds a master’s degree in Computer Science and Theoretical Medicine at the Technical University of Munich (Germany) and is an ITIL Certified Service Manager. He was awarded the title Distinguished Chief/Lead IT Architect by The Open Group.

On a personal side, Ingo Averdunk is married to his wife Kathleen and a proud father of three sonss. His main hobby is Karate, which he practices for more than 40 years. He is the holder of the 4.Dan Shotokan, is a certified examiner and has the highest trainer certification (A-Trainer Leistungssport) from the Deutscher Olympischer Sportbund (DOSB). He is an elected member of arbitral court of the Bavarian Karate Federation. His other hobbies are photography, traveling and hiking.
