I'm passionate about people and technology, striving to create a future worth living in. My goal is to create enough leverage for everyone to innovate for the benefit of our clients and IBM, to create value for businesses, and to progress skills according to market demands.
Since July 2019, I'm the leader for the IBM Watson Center Munich, responsible for its scope and market impact. I'm also an appointed expert for the Commission for AI of the German Parliament.
From Sep 2015 to June 2019, I was Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for IBM in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. My focus areas: technical strategy, strategic client engagements, external representation of IBM's business & technology strategy.
From June 2014 to Dec 2015, I was President, IBM Academy of Technology (AoT), a community of about 900 of the most prestigious technical leaders in IBM.
The goal of our AoT is to create value for our clients, to influence the IBM technical direction based on technical thought leadership and client/market feedback, and to develop a sustainable pipeline of technical leaders.
As an IBM Distinguished Engineer since 2009, I have both strategic and tactical responsibilities.
Before June 2014, these were global: Driving innovation and supporting health checks for our major clients to ensure their business resilience.
Mentoring technical people is one of my passions - to develop their strengths and leadership competencies. For the same reason I share knowledge and experiences with global teams and repositories, lead task forces and work on topics for the benefit of our clients.
Main skill areas: Innovation, AI, C-level coaching, IT implications of new trends, digital transformation, IT strategy, governance, enterprise architecture, technical leadership, service management.
