My research interests are Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing and Information Retrieval. My work addresses Deep Learning bottlenecks related to Data Quality, i.e., settings with limited data, sparsity, noise, domain shift and lack of annotations. I primarily focus on Active and Semi-supervised learning. Previously worked on Deep Learning for Social Media Analysis and on interdisciplinary projects that touch societal problems, such as Health Informatics, Education, Genomics, etc.
In December 2019, I finished my Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana - Champaign, advised by Prof. ChengXiang Zhai. Before my Ph.D., I obtained a Bachelor's in Computer Science from the Athens University of Economics and Business, Greece and a Bachelor's in Business Administration from the University of West Attica, Greece (formerly known as Technological Educational Institute of Athens). I have worked in the Greek baking sector for ~10 years (National Bank of Greece).
