I am a research staff member in IBM Research AI. My research background is in human-computer interaction. I have broad interests in human-AI interaction, with current focuses on user-aware conversational agents, human centered machine learning, AI explainability and fairness.
I publish at top-tier venues such as CHI, CSCW, TOCHI, IUI and AMIA. I received Outstanding Paper Award at IUI 2019 for work on explanation interfaces supporting model fairness judgment, and Best Paper Honorable Mention at CHI 2014 for work on deliberation platforms that "nudge" people to hear diverse opinions.
I did Ph.D. in Computer Science (focus on HCI) and M.S in Human Factors at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and B.S in Industrial Engineering at Tsinghua University.
