- IBM SARS-CoV-2 Variant Browser
[Contributor and senior developer]
In response to the global COVID-19 pandemic, IBM has launched a web service called the SARS-CoV-2 Variant Browser on the IBM Functional Genomics Platform. The browser offers interactive web applications, mainly the SARS-CoV-2 Variant Browser which visualizes SARS-CoV-2 variants and provides statistics for researchers and public health officials. By using the browser, users can interactively explore SARS-CoV-2 variants with their own filter conditions and download the data. Users also can view phylogeny and data statistics in an easy-to-use graphical interface.

[Senior developer and contributor]
'IBM Molecule Generation Experience (MolGX)' released today is a free web application that automatically designs the molecular geometry of materials with desired properties, and partially provides IBM Research's AI technology. With an easy-to-understand user interface and operability made for general users, even without advanced IT skills, you can experience the cutting edge of materials informatics while learning the basics of AI. The background of this web application is an AI technology called 'molecular generation model', which is expected to shorten the development period of new materials and develop innovative new materials beyond the normal process & the imaginable.

A plastic resource recycling project with IBM Japan and Asahi-Kasei (旭化成) focusing on the circular economoy of plastics and it's recycling.
Asahi Kasei Corporation has launched BLUE Plastics (Blockchain Loop to Unlock the Value of the Circular Economy, Blue Plastics), a digital platform to realize a resource recycling society as part of its sustainability efforts as dictated by the UN SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals).
- Press release (Japanese)
Through this project, Asahi Kasei and IBM Japan will establish a digital platform to visualize the recycling rate and recycling chain, and to encourage changes in consumer behavior to promote plastic resource recycling.
The prototype is designed for use by companies and consumers alike, with the aim of promoting behavioral change among consumers by displaying the percentage of recycled materials used in recycled plastic products and visualizing the companies involved in the recycling chain. Consumers can use their smartphone cameras to read the QR codes printed on the recycled plastic products and check their history through the traceability of blockchain technology.
