Spiros is a Research Staff Member at the IBM Research - Ireland center in Dublin, Ireland. He is part of the data privacy group, focusing on the design, implementation and integration of privacy algorithms and solutions for internal and external engagements.
He received his BS, MS and Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from the University of Crete, Greece.He was a research assistant at the Foundation for Research and Technology Hellas (FORTH) from 2001 to 2010, where he leaded the research in network and web security. He was actively involved in several FP6 and FP7-funded projects.
Since 2011, he is working closely with telecommunication providers for research projects on privacy, security and big data analytics. Prior to joining IBM, he was working with SingTel, the second largest telecommunication provider group in Asia on big data analytics
His research interests include security, data privacy protection, analytics, big data systems and high performance computing.
He has co-authored over 25 papers in major conferences and journals (NDSS, CCS, TISSEC, ICDE).
