Albert received MS degree from the Moscow Institute for Physics and Technology (MIPT) in 1989. Between 1989 and 2008 Albert was associated with Kurchatov Institute for Atomic Energy (KIAE), where he defended his PhD thesis in 2007. While working for Kurchatov Institute, Albert was interested in computer vision methods and applications.
He was employed at Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology (SAIT) for almost two years (2000-2002), doing research on visual contour tracking problem. In 2004-2008 Albert was working with "Elvees Neo-Tech", one of the leading Russian video-surveillance and monitoring companies. As a research engineer he was designing and implementing algorithms for the video-surveillance system "Orwell".
In 2008 Albert joined IBM. He is a member of IBM Research Ireland, currently focusing on novel high-performance, parallel algorithms and signal processing applications aiming to enhance IBM InfoSphere Streams platform.
