Dr. Asaf Adi joined IBM Research – Haifa in 1998. He is currently a senior manager of IoT and Wearables, for which he manages multi-disciplinary research teams focused on the intersection of IoT, mobile, and wearable devices with the goal to play a leading role in driving innovation and the transformation of enterprise business processes propelled by new devices, new data, and mobility.
His global roles in this context include being champion of wearable-enabled solutions in IBM, co-leading the IBM Academy of Technology Study on wearable technologies, being a member of the IoT research leadership team, serving as the IBM Research – Haifa Lab focal point for IBM Global Business Services, and being the responsible manager for establishing the IBM THINKLab in Haifa.
Prior to his focus on wearables, Asaf served as a senior manager of Smarter Business Solutions, where he managed multi-disciplinary research teams focused on developing and supporting advanced business, systems, marketing, and IBM Smarter Planet solutions, including work on decision analytics, system engineering, and business optimization.
His experience also covers work on Simplified Middleware and Tools, which included hosted development tools for business users, image construction and composition tools, spatio-temporal visual analytics and product-line engineering.
Asaf received his PhD degree from Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, Haifa, Israel, in 2004 for his dissertation entitled "A language and an execution model for the detection of reactive situations".
He has received numerous IBM-internal Outstanding Technical Achievement Awards and Research Division Awards.
