Hillel Kolodner is a Senior Technical Staff Member in the Systems Technologies department at the IBM Haifa Research Lab. Hillel pioneered IBM work on the implementation of Java for multiprocessor servers, especially on automatic memory management. He has also co-lead the Virtualisation Strategic Initiative of IBM Research, which developed virtualization and management technologies for cloud computing. He was also the chief architect for VISION Cloud , an European Commission FP7 Integrated Project on cloud storage, where IBM lead a consortium of 15 partners from Industry and Academia across Europe. He also lead the Cloud Content Store project, a highly scalable, continuously available, secure and low-cost storage cloud infrastructure.
More recently Hillel initiated work on project called ops@scale where we apply analytics and AI techniques on the operations data of IBM Cloud Object Storage in order to improve its operations. This has led to a broader effort across IBM Research on AIOps (the use of analytics and AI on the big data of IT operations) for IBM Cloud Infrastructure, which he now leads.
Hillel holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a B.A. in Mathematics and a B.S.E. in Computer Science from the University of Pennsylvania.
