Arvind Agarwal is a research scientist at IBM Research Labs, New Delhi India. Prior to joining IBM, he was a research scientist at Palo Alto Research Center (PARC), Webster, NY. He has research interests in Machine Learning in particular, in problems related to social computing, recommendation systems, data mining/visualization with an emphasis on large scale algorithms, and matrix and graph algorithms. He is also interested in the problems/techniques that have a geometric flavor in it e.g., kernel methods, distance/metric based methods, graph-based methods etc. His interests also extend to the fields of computational geometry and information geometry
He completed his PhD in Computer Science from University of Maryland, College Park. He received his MS. in Computer Science from School of Computing, University of Utah. His bachelor degree is from Birla Institute of Technology & Science (BITS), Pilani, India. He has spent two summers as a research intern at IBM T J Watson Research Center, New York.
