Mari Abe (Ph.D.) graduated from Keio University in 2000 and then joined IBM Research – Tokyo. She had been working on annotation authoring tools for web content adaptation, model-driven development and model-extraction of web application from 2000 to 2004. In 2005, she got her Ph.D. from Keio University while working at IBM, summarized her academic contribution to IBM software products such as WebSphere Transcoding Publisher and WebSphere Portal Server. She had been leading research projects of business process management, operation monitoring and process discovery tools from 2005 to 2015. In the meantime, she joined several customer engagements for consulting business processes operations in insurance industry. She is now working on real-time transaction processing and analysis components in IBM Connected Vehicle Insights.
Her research interests include model-extraction of applications, business process discovery and analysis, modeling tools, context-aware rule engine and analysis for Internet of Things. She published more than 24 papers and 26 patents. She is IBM Master Inventor and IEEE Senior Member. She is working as an organizing committee of IEEE Services and co-chair of Women in Service Computing in IEEE Technical Committee on Service Computing (IEEE TCSVC), a program committee of International Conference on Business Process Management (BPM), a steering committee and a program committee of the Information Processing Society of Japan - special interest group on distributed processing system (IPSJ SIG-DPS) and so on.
