Eric is a research scientist working in the Blockchain and Cognitive Services Group at IBM Research – Africa in Nairobi, Kenya. He has also been a technical team lead of the Financial Services Group, with work focused on using telco data for credit scoring on instant mobile microloans.
Eric is the project lead of the first ever deployment to production of an asset from IBM Research Africa – a credit scoring and limit management system (CLM) that is now deployed in East Africa. This work is summarized in a TED Talk that Eric gave in October 2015, in San Francisco, California.
Eric holds a Masters degree in Computer Science from Stanford University and a Bachelors degree in Aeronautics and Astronautics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Eric’s previous experiences include software engineering roles at Microsoft and Adobe in the US and in the biotech industry in France.
