Dan is a Software Engineer and Senior Inventor based in Emerging Technology, part of the IBM Research team in the UK. Dan graduated in BSc Computer Science from The University of Sheffield achieving 'Best Overall Performance' in 2015, receiving a Mappin Medal. Before joining IBM full time, Dan was a technical intern on IBM's Extreme Blue programme and spent a summer at Gold Arrow Camp in California instructing Rock Climbing and High Ropes activities.
Dan currently has a focus on Generative Policies for Connected and Autonomous Vehicles as part of the US/UK DAIS-ITA programme as well as developing Bayesian Optimisation software with the Science and Technologies Facilities Council as part of the IBM Research UK/STFC Hartree Centre in Daresbury. Dan leads Travel and Transport projects for IBM's clients in Emerging Technology and frequently engages with other developers through hackathons to develop first of a kind proof of concepts.
As a Senior Inventor, Dan has filed multiple patents and is actively involved in mentoring and reviewing invention disclosures in the IBM UK community.
