Martyn has joined IBM Research to lead the UK Research team at Daresbury and is currently focussed on the collaborative research project with the Hartree Centre at Daresbury.
Martyn has a background in research, having been a lecturer and consultant with the University of Manchester, and has built strong research links between the university and industry. He was also one of the founding members of Transitive Limited, and instrumental in the development of Rosetta, the dynamic binary translation system that allowed Apple to move from PowerPC processor to x86 processor.
When IBM acquired Transitive in 2009, Martyn was a key person in the development of our IBM Manchester Lab. He has been the Manchester Lab Leader since 2014, and established a vibrant development team with close links to local customers, IBM teams, and the university. During his time working for Storage Systems Martyn has been responsible for leading the Development and Test of multiple Storage Products and additional software features over the course of 7 years.
He has a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Manchester, is a Chartered Engineer and a member of both the BCS and the IET.
He loves Cricket and has been an avid Manchester City fan for all his life.
