Postdoctoral Researcher - IBM Watson
Thomas J. Watson Research Center, Yorktown Heights, NY USA

The goal of my current research is to improve Watson's ability to initiate interactions with users that refine and disambiguate the user's query.  I am also involved in the task of automatically creating readable summaries of search results for a decision support tool.  In 2014 I completed a Ph.D. in Linguistics at the City University of New York with a dissertation that describes an end-to-end system designed to automatically classify argument stance and supporting arguments in student essays.  During grad school I spent two years with the Text, Language, and Computation group at Educational Testing Service, working on new classification features for their automated essay scoring software. My other interests include textual entailment, coreference resolution, graphical models, neural networks, computational models of language acquisition, formal semantics, and functional programming.
