Dr. Alexandros Karargyris is a scientist with a research focus on image processing and machine learning in medical images at IBM Almaden Research Center. He earned his PhD from Wright State University at Dayton, Ohio in 2010. He worked with the National Library of Medicine (NLM) at National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland until 2016. He joined IBM Research in 2016. His interests include deep learning and mobile phone development.
At IBM research he works with Medical Sieve team to create AI algorithms to help radiologists diagnose diseases on medical images.
During his tenure at NLM he performed research related to image processing and machine learning with a focus on mHealth applications with a global impact (Link)
At NLM He also managed a multidisciplinary team of engineers and physicians to build a capsule endoscopy medical device with stabilization and localization capabilities (Link)
