I am a Research Staff Member, Manager, working in the Cognitive IoT (Internet-of-Things) Research Department at IBM T. J. Watson Research Center, Yorktown Heights, NY, USA. Currently I am working on projects related to building cognitive algorithms and systems for IoT applications, with particular focuses on enabling sophisticated analytics and other applications at the network edge.
I joined IBM Research at 2006, before which I briefly stayed in Philips Research North America as a Senior Member of Research Staff. I received Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University, New York, NY, and M.S. and B.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Seoul National University, Seoul, Korea. I also co-founded Neomtel, Ltd., Seoul, Korea, a wireless network application provider, at 1999. I am the recipient of the Best Paper Awards in IEEE International Conference on Network Protocols (ICNP) 2003 and in IEEE/IFIP International Symposium on Integrated Network Management (IM) 2013.
