Fateh Tipu is a Senior Engineer at IBM T. J. Watson Research Center, Yorktown Heights, New York. He received his M.S. in Electrical Engineering from University of Wisconsin, Madison, Wisconsin in 1991 and his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from University of Engineering & Technology, Lahore, Pakistan in 1989.
Upon joining IBM Research in 1991, Tipu worked on developing the BSN Logic Design System which was used to design multiple chips at IBM Poughkeepsie and East Fishkill.
Tipu joined the Data Analytics Research Group at Watson in 1996 and worked on the development of Data Mining systems. This work resulted in the creation of ProbE Predictive Data Mining framework. It also resulted in the development of the Transform Regression data mining algorithm which was added to the DB2 product.
Since 2005, Tipu has been working on designing and developing systems which use advanced data mining and analytical methods to address Yield and Performance issues at IBM's 300mm East Fishkill Semiconductor Fab.
