I manage the UI/Tooling team for Watson Discovery Service. My background is in concurrent/scalable systems, but I've been managing a front end UI team for a few years, so now I also have a UX focus. I'm looking forward to be able to build some of the AI that powers WDS instead of only interfaces on top of it.
Joe Kramer lives for the rush felt when unit tests pass after struggling with a tricky implementation. As an IBMer, he manages the Watson Discovery Tooling team. As an engineer, he has designed and implemented multi-threaded, high performance, scaling, fault tolerant connectors between IBM Watson Explorer and other third-party repositories. In his spare time, he stays up to date on the latest technologies by reading blogs and taking classes from MOOCs. He also teaches Test-Driven Development skills though Coderetreat.org and has been an Agile adviser for CMU's Software Engineering students. He is deeply involved in the local Pittsburgh developer community and has presented at several user groups on a variety of topics.
