Dr. Kreulen is responsible for the cognitive systems architecture for IBM Watson Group. Previously, he led research and development focused on scalable analytical services, with specialization on unstructured information analytics, industry applications, and services assets in IBM Research Almaden.
Dr. Kreulen's most recent work has been on discovery analytics embodied in the Strategic IP Insight Platform (SIIP) providing search and analytics on patents and technical literature for the chemical and biological domains. This work has also been applied to social media, client relationship management, intellectual property and marketing intelligence applications. The recipient of three IBM Outstanding Technical Achievement Awards, Dr. Kreulen holds more than 25 patents and has published extensively including co-authoring of the book “Mining the Talk”.
He received his B.S. in applied mathematics (computer science) from Carnegie-Mellon University and his M.S. in electrical engineering and Ph.D. in computer engineering from Pennsylvania State University. Since joining IBM, he has worked on multiprocessor systems design and verification, operating systems, systems management, information analytics, complex services modeling, service science, and large scale structured and unstructured information mining.
