Kang-Wook Lee is a Research Staff Member in the Healthcare and Life Sciences Department at IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Center. He received a BS degree from Seoul National University and a Ph.D. degree from Rutgers University. Before entering his graduate school, he served the Korean Navy as an officer. He was a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Department of Chemistry, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a Senior Research Fellow at the Polymer Science and Engineering Department, University of Massachusetts at Amherst. In 1988 Dr. Lee joined IBM T.J. Watson Res. Ctr. where he has worked on surface sciences, adhesion, electronic & package materials, semiconductor interconnects, and healthcare sensors. He has authored or co-authored more than 150 papers and patents. He received IBM Outstanding Technical Achievement Award three times in 1994, 2006 and 2015. He also received 17 other recognitions from IBM. He was the President of Korean-American Scientists and Engineers Association, a not-for-profit organization, in 2008-2009. He was the Chair of the 2008 Annual US-Korea Conference on Science, Technology, and Entrepreneurship. His current research interests include healthcare sensors and Internet of Things (IoT).
