Dr. Jian Ni is a Research Staff Member at the IBM T. J. Watson Research Center. His current research activities involve designing and developing information extraction models and systems for different domains (cybersecurity, news) and multiple languages.
Jian received the B.Eng. degree in Automation from Tsinghua University in 2001, the M.Phil. degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2003, and the Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from Yale University in 2008. Prior to joining IBM in 2010, he was a Postdoctoral Researcher with the Coordinated Science Laboratory at the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign. His research interests include machine learning, deep learning, statistical learning, natural language processing and networking.
