Bio

Ruchi Mahindru is a Senior Technical Staff Member at IBM T. J. Watson Research, co-leading the IBM Research Strategy for AI-based IT Operations. With a rich 20-year background in IT support and operations, she possesses a deep understanding of the intricate challenges and specific requirements that enterprises face in their IT functions. She is skilled in building scalable and reusable distributed AI-driven solutions for effective issue remediation to improve providers’ productivity and customer experience. Her research interests are in context-aware knowledge engineering, machine learning, deep learning, generative AI, semantic data analytics, inferencing, and its applications in IT Operations. She deeply values coaching and mentoring, seeing them as not only core principles but also as a moral imperative. She is committed to the growth and empowerment of others, believing in the importance of nurturing potential and fostering success.

Ruchi was awarded as Outstanding Technical Contributor at the 27th Women of Color STEM Conference - 2022, as a testimonial of her significant technical track record at IBM. Ruchi also received an Award for the Advancement of Women in Operations Research and Management Science (OR/MS) - 2022 from the Women in Operations Research at the Institute for OR/MS. She has received several IBM Outstanding Technical Achievement Awards and IBM Research Division Awards for driving innovative technical solutions resulting in high business impact. Since 2016, Ruchi has held the honor of being an IBM Master Inventor, boasting a substantial and impactful patent portfolio, and over 30 technical papers in top IEEE, ACM and AI conferences. In 2014, Ruchi received the Technology Rising Star Award at the 19th Women of Color STEM Conference.

She received her M.S. degree in Computer Science from the City University of New York in 2005. Her substantial record of publications, patents, and accolades speaks to her significant technical contributions and dedication to advancing the field.
