Ben Shaw, Ph.D. is a Research Staff Member in Brain-inspired Computing at IBM Research - Almaden. His current work focuses on strategic planning and ecosystem growth for new compute technologies, particularly taking a design and strategic user experience perspective. Additional research areas include human-computer interaction in socio-technical systems and the dynamics of creativity, collaboration and value co-creation in organizational work. He has received best paper and best presentation awards for work envisioning applications of neurosynaptic computing and analysis of space mission design at Jet Propulsion Laboratory, as well as a Research Division Award for enterprise user experience research on global pricing and costing tools. His prior professional experience is in areas of engineering product design and visual representation in collaborative work.
