Sridhar Iyengar, an IBM Distinguished Engineer at the IBM TJ Watson Research Center, is a technical leader in Cognitive Computing Research and is focused on bringing IBM's innovative Cognitive , Mobile & Big Data Analytics Solutions to IBM Customers. As part of the IBM Research Customer Experience Lab he is focused on engaging Banking, Insurance and Financial Market clients. These innovations span the use of Cognitive Computing, Analytics, Mobile and Social Networking Technologies that can be used in innovative ways to improve customer experience – all the way from understanding a customer holistically by integrating customer data within a corporation and external data from blogs, social media etc.
Sridhar and his extended team of researchers working in IBM’s global research labs have innovated in the following key areas under his leadership:
- Use of Cognitive technologies like IBM Watson & Predictive Analytics to Banking in areas like Wealth Management
- Internet of Things
- Use of analytics to identify and prevent fraud in financial, retail and healthcare systems
- Use of design and implementation patterns to automate the design and implementation of Custom SOA and Packaged Applications (SAP, Oracle)
- Use of globally distributed application analytics and optimization platform (AAO) to optimize the operation of global delivery teams
Sridhar is also a member of the IBM Software Group Architecture Board Steering Committee helping drive software tools/solutions direction across IBM. Sridhar serves on the OMG Board of Directors and is working on the development and integration of Architecture, Business and IT Modeling standards. Sridhar led the definition of Modeling (UML) and Metadata (MOF, XMI) standards that have been widely implemented in IBM SWG products, and Eclipse open source projects.
Sridhar has 32 years of experience in the software industry (12 years in IBM) and is an expert in Data, Business, Service and Semantic modeling, Application Life Cycle Management, Cognitive Computing, Middleware and Metadata Management. Prior to joining IBM Research, Sridhar was part of the IBM Rational CTO team driving technical strategy of tools and tools integration in IBM.
Sridhar holds several patents in modeling, metadata management and tools integration and is a frequent speaker at conferences worldwide.
