Swati Rallapalli is a research staff member at the Distributed Cognitive Systems department at IBM T.J. Watson Research Center. Her current research focusses on distributed video analytics (using CNNs/RNNs) on mobile systems under stringent resource constraints. She also works on multi-modal fusion and vector embeddings of text and graphs (using neural networks). She serves as a principal investigator on the Quality Aware Semantic Video Analytics task under US Army Research Lab funded Network Science Collaborative Technology Alliance, focused on inferring multi-resolution spatial and temporal features from sensed data. She is broadly interested in Machine Learning Systems.
She has been with IBM Research since 2015. She received her PhD in August 2014 and MS in Computer Science in August 2010 from The University of Texas at Austin. Her PhD work focussed on mobile computing: indoor localization, mobility prediction and physical analytics. Before joining IBM Research she has interned with Microsoft Research India, AT&T Research, Narus Inc. and Intel. Her research has appeared in several top journals and conferences in the areas of mobile computing and machine learning. She has also served as a peer reviewer at several of these venues. She is a member of ACM and IEEE.
