Maheswaran Surendra's current position is Director for Service Management at IBM's TJ Watson Research Center. He is the worldwide Research leader for IT Services with the mission of driving innovation in IT Service technologies, including novel analytics, automation tooling and process transformation, which are then deployed at scale in IBM's Services Business units. He has been in his current role since 2010. From 2002 to 2010, he worked on various areas of software and services research including IT systems and service management, autonomic computing, IT transformation and work-load migration, service quality and productivity, as well as analytics in services. In 2001 he was a co-lead for IBM's Global Technology Outlook while on technical staff for Research strategy. Prior to 2001, Surendra led the effort on plasma processing and process control in the Semiconductor Research and Development Center at IBM. He joined IBM Research in 1991.
Surendra received his PhD from University of California, Berkeley in 1991. Prior to that he completed Masters and Bachelors degrees at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He has over 40 technical publications and 30 patents, as well as several IBM outstanding recognition awards.
