Tom Griffin is a Senior Software Engineer in the Cloud System Analytics group at IBM Research. He has an M.S. in Computer Science from the University of Colorado, Boulder, and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University. At IBM he creates advanced tools for IT professionals and analytics solutions for IOT and cheminformatics. Some recent projects are 1) Using BLE iBeacons for indoor localization in enterprise and medical environments 2) Creating services to automatically check the interoperability of various storage, switch and server components in large IT configurations and 3) Creating an algorithm and application that uses chemical ontologies to predict potential drug candidates with gene target activities. He led the development of the IBM Patent Server and was Director of Development for Delphion, Inc., a subscription based patent search site which spun out of IBM and which was purchased by Thomson Reuters in 2002.
