Dr. Yuan-Chi Chang is a Distinguished Research Staff Member at IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Center. His speciality, built on over 20 years of industrial experience in data management, is to assess technical and business feasibility, identify architectural tradeoffs, challenge overly optimistic claims, spot implementation gaps, foresee deployment and operational challenges. He has performed research and development work in the areas of digital library, electronic commerce, data warehouse, data integration and recently, machine learning and its embedded application. His latest project built a first-of-a-kind real time predictive analytics for better diabetes care. He is working on the generalization of domain directed, multivarate time series machine learning.
Dr. Chang has been the PI or co-PI of several federal agency and industry funded projects focused on data analytics and integration. He is a holder of over 60 issued patents worldwide and has published over 40 papers in referred conferences. He joined IBM in 1999 after receiving his Ph.D. from University of California, Berkeley.
