Andrea Gemma is a Pre-doctoral researcher in the Materials Integration & Nanoscale Devices (MIND) Group of the Science & Technology department at the IBM Research Laboratory in Zurich. He is also a PhD candidate at the University of Basel under the supervision of Professor Michel Calame.
He joined IBM in 2018, and he is currently involved in two European projects (QuIET and EFINED) in the framework of Horizon 2020.
His research mainly focuses on investigating thermal and electrical transport at the nanoscale, through single atomic and molecular contacts.
His scientific interests span from heat exchange and charge transport at the nanoscale, to molecular electronics and energy conversion.
Andrea Gemma received his B. Sc. degree in Physics Engineering at Politecnico di Torino and his M.Sc. degree in Nanotechnologies for ICTs from Politecnico di Torino, EPFL (Lausanne) and INP (Grenoble).
